Basketball Recap: Hug Victorious

Hug proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 62) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Owyhee Braves out 57-55.

When it comes to explaining why Owyhee lost, don't look at Rolando Espitia. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Espitia has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Smart, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Hug's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Owyhee, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Hug didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-50 victory against Mineral County on the 28th. As for Owyhee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-36 defeat against McQueen on the 28th.
