Baseball Game Preview: Enloe Eagles vs. Leesville Road Pride

For the second straight game, Enloe will face off against Leesville Road. The Eagles will challenge the Pride at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Enloe has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while Leesville Road will come in with nine straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Enloe's offense. They came up short against Leesville Road on Monday, falling 12-0.

For Leesville Road's part, Alex Higdon looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Higdon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nolan Wyss was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Leesville Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Leesville Road's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Enloe, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Enloe's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game.
