Baseball Recap: Douglas County West Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Douglas County West had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Nebraska City Pioneers by a score of 10-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Falcon's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jackson Schuiteman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Mason Pettit was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Douglas County West: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise.

As for Nebraska City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Nebraska City's side, AJ Rautenbach was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles were Rautenbach's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Martinez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

As of now, neither Douglas County West nor Nebraska City have any future games scheduled.
