If Hayden wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Emporia, they should've done a better job of containing Molly Williams. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 2-1 with plenty of help from Williams, who had 21 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game.

Emporia had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-16.

When it comes to explaining why Hayden lost on Thursday, don't look at Ella Foster. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and one assist.

Emporia's win ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8. As for Hayden, their loss ended a seven-match streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.

Coming up, Emporia will square off against Ottawa at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hayden, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Bishop Miege on the 27th.
