Softball Recap: Monona Grove Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bethlehem, Monona Grove was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the DeForest Norskies. For the Silver Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Norskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Brooklyn Vanden Branden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyra Killebrew, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Addison Veith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Monona Grove's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Monona Grove will host Waunakee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for DeForest, they are taking a road trip to take on Beaver Dam at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Norskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Beavers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
