Football Recap: Crescent City Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Crescent City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Palatka Panthers a 7-0 shutout. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Crescent City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Zamara Castro, Paola Cruz, and Melanie Pecina picked up one apiece. Cruz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Crescent City's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.6 points on average over those games. As for Palatka, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Crescent City will head out to challenge Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Raiders 5.8, the Falcons 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Palatka, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Ridgeview at 6:00 p.m.
