After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dorman, Gate City was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They slipped by the Winter Haven Blue Devils 68-67. Gate City's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Winter Haven still got an impressive performance from Troy Boswell Jr, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and 18 rebounds. Boswell Jr's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Gavin Hall was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and seven boards.

With the win, Gate City broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3. As for Winter Haven, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Gate City will have a chance to keep the ball rolling against St. James at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday following yesterday's win. As for Winter Haven, they and Bluefield will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Winter Haven is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
