The Marin Catholic Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the San Rafael Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Marin Catholic was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Terra Linda on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Trojans 18-3. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Lana Wihlborg, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Morgan Carlson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Marin Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, San Rafael came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.
Thomara Drummer made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Sophia Everett was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lila Kim, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Marin Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for San Rafael, their record now sits at 12-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Marin Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like San Rafael struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Marin Catholic came up short against San Rafael in their previous meeting back in April, falling 3-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
