Basketball Recap: Dylan Kartchner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Summit Academy over Northridge

Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Northridge Knights an easy 86-62 victory. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Kartchner, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Beckham Meredith, who put up seven points.

Even though they lost, Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Cael Lake was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine assists for Northridge. The game was Lake's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Sunkuli, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Northridge, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Summit Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-50 loss against Grantsville on the 28th. As for Northridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-69 victory against Clearfield on the 31st.
