Softball Recap: Mendon Unity Comes Up Short

Mendon Unity fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Bushnell-Prairie City on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 9-8. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mendon Unity got a massive performance out of Savannah Zanger, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Tegan Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mendon Unity's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-24.

Coming up, Mendon Unity will head out to face off against Pleasant Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-8 victory against Peoria Heights on the 14th.
