The Sheldon Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Laguna Creek Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sheldon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Sheldon fell victim to Franklin and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The match marked the first time this year in which the Huskies were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Laguna Creek started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Yuba City. They fell just short of the Honkers by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Cardinals' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kate Saxton and Ella Lovato did some serious damage despite the final result: Saxton went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Lovato went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Mia Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Laguna Creek now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Sheldon, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6-1.

Laguna Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sheldon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Laguna Creek, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Sheldon's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.

Sheldon took their win against Laguna Creek in their previous meeting on April 2nd by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
