Recap: Sylmar Spartans vs. Glendale Nitros
The Sylmar Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 78-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glendale. While losing is never fun, Sylmar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Glendale is ranked 217th).
Sylmar's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Dickson, who scored 20 points. Dickson scored a full 28.2% of Sylmar's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Sidon, who scored 13 points.
Sylmar's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Glendale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Sylmar will be playing in front of their home fans against Reseda at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glendale and San Dimas will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Dimas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Glendale likes a good challenge.
