Softball Recap: St. Ursula Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

St. Ursula Academy dropped their record down to 13-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of Mount Notre Dame by a score of 5-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Mount Notre Dame this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 two weeks ago.

St. Ursula Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was A Cosgray, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. A Bunner was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Mount Notre Dame, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Mount Notre Dame's side, Audrey Gildea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. Gildea has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
