Soccer Game Preview: Riverbend Academy vs. Redeemer Christian

Riverbend Academy hasn't had much luck against Redeemer Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Riverbend Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.5 goals per game this season.

Riverbend Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Calvary Christian Academy, who was ranked tenth at the time (Riverbend Academy was ranked sixth). The Warriors blew past the Lions 7-1 on Friday. Lexie Brown was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Riverbend Academy was without their leading scorer, Kinsley Hahn, in Friday's match. With Hahn sidelined, Bethany Rogers got her first action of the season.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 2-2 at halftime, Redeemer Christian was not quite Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks.

The win (which was Riverbend Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three contests. As for Redeemer Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1.

Riverbend Academy suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Redeemer Christian in their previous matchup back in March. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Warriors were down 3-0.
