Softball Recap: Cahokia Takes a Loss

Cahokia had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 13. They lost 17-0 to the Gibault Catholic Hawks. If the Comanches were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gibault Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

For Gibault Catholic's part, Claire Kessler was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Kessler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karina Jerkatis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Cahokia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Marquette Catholic on the 12th. As for Gibault Catholic, they have also already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Mater Dei on the 7th.
