Softball Recap: Spanish Fort Beats Stanhope Elmore for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Spanish Fort came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in February.

Cayden Dorger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haley Hart, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Madison Griffith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Spanish Fort's victory bumped their record up to 38-10. As for Stanhope Elmore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Spanish Fort will square off against Saraland at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday. Stanhope Elmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
