Softball Recap: Chariho's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Chariho entered their tilt with Scituate on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Spartans 14-4. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Gabby Ricci and Adriana Jeannenot made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ricci struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Jeannenot tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ricci went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Jeannenot went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave Ricci a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brianna DeGiacomo was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Erin O'Leary was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Chariho always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scituate only posted an OBP of .280.

Chariho pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Scituate, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Chariho has already played their next contest, a 15-1 loss against La Salle Academy on the 8th. Scituate has also already played their next match (against Johnston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
