West Point is 8-2 against Russellville since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The West Point Warriors will square off against the Russellville Golden Tigers at 4:30 p.m. West Point has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
On Tuesday, West Point came up short against Hayden and fell 11-7. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
West Point got a big performance out of Macie Brown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Brown has posted since back in March of 2024. Kealie Harbison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, West Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Russellville also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Lawrence County by a score of 8-4. The Golden Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alexia Groce was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ticelee Gholston, who went 3-for-4 with one triple.
West Point's record now sits at 6-9. As for Russellville, their record is now 1-12.
Russellville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Russellville, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain West Point's hitters?
West Point beat Russellville 3-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Does West Point have another victory up their sleeve, or will Russellville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
