Baseball Recap: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Brunswick Blue Devils
Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 8-2 to the Brunswick Blue Devils. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Mayfield got a good showing from Connor Mize, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Mize hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2025.
On the hitting side, Gavin Rose made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Brunswick, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
While Mayfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
