Basketball Recap: Seneca Takes a Loss

Seneca played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Sacred Heart Valkyries, falling 86-7. The Red Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 71-1.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Carliale Pollard and Arionna Tunstall, who each put up three points. Tunstall also led the team in rebounds with three.

ZaKiyah Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sacred Heart, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. Johnson's evening made it 19 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Frey, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Seneca has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Seneca wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-15 loss against Central on the 4th. As for Sacred Heart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-46 win against DuPont Manual on the 5th.
