Football Preview: Redmond Mustangs vs. Hazen Highlanders
The Redmond Mustangs will head out to square off against the Hazen Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Redmond is looking for their season's first victory.
Redmond is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They and Renton were almost perfectly matched up on Thursday, but Redmond suffered a 37-36 defeat. Even if the Mustangs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.
Despite the loss, Redmond got top-tier performance from Bronson Arzillo, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Arzillo got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 61 yards. 81 of those passing yards were hauled in by Brayden Bartoletti, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Redmond wouldn't let Renton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Redmond can thank Brandon Dayberry and Hank Crawford for forcing both of them. Crawford also set a new season high mark in rushing yards with 85.
Even though they lost, Redmond was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Hazen got themselves on the board against Inglemoor on Friday, but Inglemoor never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 20-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Highlanders just coasted through the last quarter.
Redmond's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hazen, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
