Softball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-9. They lost 16-0 to the Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Tuesday.

As for Bishop Carroll, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

For Bishop Carroll's part, Allyson Orth and Emerson Hiebert made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Orth tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hiebert tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Orth posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. At bat, Orth went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Hiebert went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That triple was Orth's first of the season.

In other batting news, Paige Stroot was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emerson May, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, South will host Dodge City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Carroll, they will head out to square off against Trinity Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
