While Waterloo's victory against Lyons wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers won by a run and slipped past the Lions 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three games in a row.

Gwen DiIorio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gwyn Panek was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run. Tangel Williams also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Lyons, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.

Coming up, Waterloo will challenge Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lyons, they will take on Marion at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Black Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
