On Wednesday, Calera faced Homewood in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Calera Eagles came out on top against the Homewood Patriots by a score of 3-1. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

They hit Homewood with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Edson Gonzalez, Alex Garcia, and Matthew Doerfler.

Calera's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Homewood, they moved to 13-2 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Coming up, Calera will head out to face off against Montevallo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montevallo will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Calera surely won't give up without a fight. Homewood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jackson-Olin at 6:30 p.m. on April 1st.
