Baseball Game Preview: Fayette County Tigers vs. Gordo Green Wave

Fayette County is 2-8 against Gordo since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Fayette County will venture away from home to square off against Gordo at 4:00 p.m. Fayette County will be strutting in after a win while Gordo will be coming in after a loss.

Fayette County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past South Lamar 7-0. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won nine in a row.

Not much got past Lukas Driver, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep South Lamar off the board. Those 15 strikeouts gave Driver a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Lindsey, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Christian Armstrong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Gordo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to Demopolis.

Fayette County's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Gordo, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Fayette County might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Gordo in their previous meeting on March 5th. Can Fayette County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
