Basketball Recap: Creek Valley Takes a Loss

If Creek Valley was riding high fresh off their 37-13 takedown of Banner County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Creek Valley Storm were outmatched by the Caliche Buffaloes and fell 70-24. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 274th in Nebraska, while the Buffaloes are ranked 126th in Colorado).

Ava Fraass was Creek Valley's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Catherine Tilghman held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Paisley Alexander took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Creek Valley's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Caliche, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Creek Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Leyton at 5:00 p.m. Leyton's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Creek Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Caliche, they are taking a road trip to take on Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Caliche is facing Holyoke at the right time seeing as Holyoke is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
