Avon Grove was handed a 32-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Unionville 29-28. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Oxford entered their game against East on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hornets fell 28-21 to the Vikings.

Avon Grove picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Oxford, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Avon Grove couldn't quite finish off Oxford in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 17-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Hornets' Joel McClain, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores.
