Basketball Recap: Elliott County Lions vs. East Carter Raiders

Elliott County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the East Carter Raiders and fell 72-20. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-4 two weeks ago.

East Carter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Hall, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Hall has posted since back in December of 2024. Scarlett Williams was another key player, putting up nine points.

Elliott County's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for East Carter, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Elliott County will square off against Phelps at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Phelps has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three contests. As for East Carter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-53 victory against Russell on the 8th.
