Softball Game Preview: Riverview Pirates vs. Cabrini Monarchs

The Riverview Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Cabrini Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Cabrini's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Riverview's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Jefferson 15-0. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cabrini, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They skirted past Shrine Catholic 8-6.

Elizabeth Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Elena DelCotto and Jodi Browning did most of the damage at the plate: DelCotto went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Browning went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits DelCotto has posted since back in April of 2025. Hannah Ferrence also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cabrini was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Riverview's record is now 11-2-1. As for Cabrini, their record now sits at 5-3.
