Football Game Preview: Bridge City Cardinals vs. Liberty Panthers

Bridge City and Liberty are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Bridge City came up short against Little Cypress-Mauriceville and fell 24-16. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost seven in a row.

Although Bridge City took the loss, they still got scores from Luke Nelson and Ayden Wiley.

Bridge City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kolby Leblanc and Keagan Trahan. Trahan is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Meanwhile, Liberty managed to keep up with Vidor until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Panthers were beaten by the Pirates 48-19.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Bridge City, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Everything went Bridge City's way against Liberty in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Bridge City made off with a 24-0 win. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
