Basketball Recap: Covenant Day Falls Despite Big Games from Avery Houseton and Charlotte Hall

Covenant Day has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Charlotte Latin Hawks. The Lions lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-23 score last time.

Covenant Day's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Charlotte Hall, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and six boards, and Avery Houseton, who posted 13 points and three steals. Houseton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

It was another big night for Charlotte Tune, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 22 points and three steals for Charlotte Latin. Another player making a difference was Wallace Roberts, who had six points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Covenant Day's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Charlotte Latin, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cannon the next time they take the court. Charlotte Latin will host Cannon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Covenant Day will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
