Baseball Recap: Antioch Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Antioch entered their tilt with Round Lake on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 15-0 shutout. With that win, the Sequoits brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Ben Clausen looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Antioch got a massive performance out of Zach Rubin, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Rubin has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cameron Speich, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Antioch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Antioch's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Round Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Antioch will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
