Volleyball Recap: Lutheran South's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If Lutheran South was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Clayton on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers lost 3-0 to the Christian Brothers Cadets on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lancers have suffered since April 12, 2024.

While Lutheran South was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Christian Brothers' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Lutheran South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cody Abbas had 18 digs. Abbas is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last eight games he's played.

With the defeat, Lutheran South broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6-2. As for Christian Brothers, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-13-1 record this season.

Lutheran South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Saxony Lutheran on the 25th. As for Christian Brothers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Parkway South on the 28th.
