Baseball Game Recap: Garrett Railroaders vs. Fairfield Falcons

Garrett barely beat Fairfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Railroaders never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. The Railroaders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 12-2).

Lucas Collins made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jackson Ice was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Gage Pyck was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Garrett picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Fairfield, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Garrett will host Angola at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Railroaders are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Fairfield, they will head out to challenge Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
