Loyola is 9-1 against Mira Costa since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Loyola Cubs will be playing at home against the Mira Costa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.

Loyola is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Santa Margarita just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Eagles. The game marked the Cubs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Mira Costa waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Panthers 3-0.

Mira Costa never let Peninsula on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18, 25-21.

Mira Costa pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Loyola, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.

Loyola came out on top in a nail-biter against Mira Costa when the teams last played last Saturday, sneaking past 2-1. Will Loyola repeat their success, or does Mira Costa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
