Baseball Recap: Nampa Makes It Three in a Row at Home

The matchup between Nampa and Caldwell on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 12-8. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Cougars on April 3rd, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Konnor Rae looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Nampa is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Nampa let Jaxon Wade and Nathan Kessinger run wild. Wade went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Kessinger went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Nampa is undefeated when Kessinger posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Carter Smalley also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Nampa's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Caldwell, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Looking ahead, Nampa is taking a road trip to face off against Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. Caldwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
