Softball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Takes a Loss

Merritt Island Christian was the 11-4 winner over Cocoa Beach when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars lost 19-9 to the Minutemen on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keri Shea made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Shae Janke was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Merritt Island Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cocoa Beach, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Merritt Island Christian will take on Space Coast at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cocoa Beach, they will challenge Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Minutemen are facing the Terriers at the right time seeing as the Terriers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
