Baseball Recap: Making Waves Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Emerald last Tuesday, Making Waves Academy came back down to earth. The Marlins came up short against the Valley Christian Vikings on Tuesday, falling 17-7. The Marlins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Gustavo Rosas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 22 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of William Castillo, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Making Waves Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-6-1. As for Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

While Making Waves Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
