Edgar is 2-8 against Abbotsford since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Edgar made easy work of Assumption and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Edgar took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-6, 25-13.
Brandi Halverson and Kaitlynn Hartnady were among the main playmakers for Edgar as the former had 18 assists and four digs and the latter had nine digs and three assists. That's the most digs Halverson has posted over her last six matchups. Charlie Streit also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Edgar was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Assumption only served three.
Meanwhile, Abbotsford earned a 3-1 victory over Chequamegon on Tuesday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Screaming Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Abbotsford had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-12, 25-10, 25-19.
Edgar better keep an eye on Caylee Clement. She was instrumental in Abbotsford's win, getting 11 digs and three aces.
Edgar's record is now 22-6. As for Abbotsford, their record now sits at 21-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Edgar has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Abbotsford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Edgar beat Abbotsford 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
