The Windsor Wizards will take on the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
D'Evelyn will be up against a hot Windsor team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Windsor blew past Dakota Ridge 11-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wizards, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ethan Fillinger made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fillinger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Jordan and Tripp Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Jordan scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Thomas scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, Jordan posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jeremiah Calderon was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D'Evelyn). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Standley Lake on Tuesday. The Jaguars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024.
Like Windsor, D'Evelyn also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryan Kim. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Kim was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, D'Evelyn let Jack Meiser and Chase Beardsley run wild. Meiser scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Beardsley scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those hits marked the first that Beardsley got this season. Another player making a difference was Cameron McLetchie, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
D'Evelyn's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Windsor, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Windsor took their win against D'Evelyn when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2. Does Windsor have another victory up their sleeve, or will D'Evelyn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
