The Biglerville Canners will head out to face off against the Delone Catholic Squires at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Biglerville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, Biglerville got the win against Bermudian Springs by a conclusive 18-11. The win continues a trend for the Canners in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Biglerville got a massive performance out of Paige Slaybaugh, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Slaybaugh has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Walter, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.
Biglerville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bermudian Springs only posted a batting average of .290.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Delone Catholic was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 8-2 to James Buchanan.
Delone Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Hewitt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Delone Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Biglerville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Delone Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Biglerville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Delone Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Biglerville's sizable advantage in that area, the Squires will need to find a way to close that gap.
Biglerville took their win against Delone Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Canners repeat their success, or do the Squires have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
