California Military Institute has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Webb Schools Gauls at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The pair might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
After only six points in their last contest, California Military Institute made sure to put some points up on the board against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School on Friday. California Military Institute blew past Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School 52-16 at home.
Manuel Velasquez was a one-man wrecking crew for California Military Institute as he rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ivan Iniguez also helped out as he racked up 108 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, The Webb Schools made easy work of San Jacinto Valley Academy on Saturday and carried off a 43-18 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point The Webb Schools had established a 23 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Webb Schools to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaj Grayson, who threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Troy Seanoa was in the mix too, providing The Webb Schools with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped California Military Institute to 3-4 and The Webb Schools to 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: California Military Institute has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like The Webb Schools struggles in that department as they've been averaging 151 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
California Military Institute was taken down by The Webb Schools 40-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for California Military Institute, Bryan Oglesby (who picked up 107 receiving yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
