Benjamin Franklin snaps three-game streak of wins at home

Recap: Benjamin Franklin Chargers vs. Valley Christian Trojans

The Benjamin Franklin Chargers struggled with assists on Friday (the Valley Christian Trojans had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Benjamin Franklin was outmatched by the Trojans at home and fell 90-35. Benjamin Franklin has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Benjamin Franklin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talan Speir, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Sanchez, who scored four points along with two steals.

Benjamin Franklin struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Grier, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grier has scored all season. Austin Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.

Benjamin Franklin's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-12. As for Valley Christian, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benjamin Franklin will challenge the Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. Valley Christian is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. San Tan Foothills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Trojans are ranked 15th).
