League recap: Wayne County rolls against South Effingham

AAAA Region 3A recap Oct. 23, 2012

Wayne County took down South Effingham 41-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Yellow Jackets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,836 from 4,330. The advance stemmed from a 41-24 victory over the Mustangs last week.

Liberty County's JJ Grant and Jeremy Caldwell-Fabregas have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAAA Region 3A in both passing and receiving yards. Grant has thrown for 373 yards this season, while Caldwell-Fabregas, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 15 catches for 400 yards. Joshua Mercer from South Effingham leads the league in rushing with 863 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Mustangs take on Statesboro. South Effingham's offense has racked up 225 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Blue Devils have allowed only 77 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Statesboro takes on the Mustangs. The Blue Devils are in first place, while South Effingham is in third place.

Wayne County led AAAA Region 3A in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on the Mustangs.
