Softball Recap: Southside Tigers vs. Emerald Vikings

Southside had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-14 to make it 13. They came up short against the Emerald Vikings, falling 21-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.

Southside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alana Wilson-Drawhorn, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Emerald, their record is now 6-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

On Emerald's side, Destinee Powers was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Powers was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Lonna Ann Holloway and Laniya Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Holloway went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Moore went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Holloway a new career-high. Emma Cline was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
