The Turner Ashby Knights will head out to square off against the Spotswood Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner Ashby is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Turner Ashby's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Harrisonburg. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Blue Streaks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Caden Simmers was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Knicely, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Brady Spotts was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Turner Ashby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Spotswood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rockbridge County by a score of 4-0 on Friday.
Spotswood pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Turner Ashby, their record is now 10-3.
Turner Ashby was able to grind out a solid win over Spotswood in their previous meeting back in April, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
