Constantine has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hackett Catholic Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Fighting Irish at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Constantine lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Kalamazoo Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Comets on Tuesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Kaitlyn Ross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Ross was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 16 games.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Ransbottom, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Herlein, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Constantine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hackett Catholic Prep came up short against Galesburg-Augusta on Friday and fell 18-13. The Fighting Irish have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Constantine, Hackett Catholic Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Avery Doerr. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 17 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Doerr was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Alexa Rosell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Harlow Barnhill was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Hackett Catholic Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Constantine, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Hackett Catholic Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Constantine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. It's a different story for Hackett Catholic Prep, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Constantine's hitters?
Constantine took their victory against Hackett Catholic Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
