Pampa senior Jayson Thomas somehow grabs a touchdown pass while being totally face-guarded.

Video: Texas receiver makes the catch of the year
Pampa senior Jayson Thomas makes remarkable grab without seeing the ball.

Jayson Thomas couldn't break free. Then when his quarterback Brandon Steward flung the ball in his direction, a Dalhart defender had no choice but to faceguard and interfere with the talented receiver. Thomas could only guess where the pass would land. In this case, on the back of the defender.

No matter.

Looking back, the 6-foot, 163-pound senior from Pampa (Texas) stuck his hands around the back of the defender and made a simply insane catch. Maybe it's the catch of the year.

That would be hard to argue or imagine another any better.

Despite four players in the vicinity and flags flying in from the referees, Thomas hauled it in during a 35-14 victory. Thomas had nine catches for 137 yards and two scores on the night and now has 30 grabs for 406 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.

The catch was so good, the referees had to pow wow afterward not to discuss whether it was an interference call. That was obvious. But they couldn't believe Thomas actually caught it. The proof is in the video.
