Berea and Paris are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berea is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Paris will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Berea extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Pirates put the hurt on Menifee County with a sharp 25-6 win. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Berea got a massive performance out of Tommie Banderman, who went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave Banderman a new career-high. Nathan Prophitt was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
While Paris didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Pendleton County on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Greyhounds.
Dexter Leverett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Leverett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cameron Mays was incredible, scoring a run and stealing six bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.
Paris' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Berea, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Berea has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Paris struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berea skirted past Paris 9-8 in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
