Baseball Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. Granada Hills Charter Highlanders

The Hart Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Hart will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Hart gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Canyon 11-4. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Hart got a great performance from Mason Cummings as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Cummings has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anthony Cavarretta was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Devin Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Birmingham typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Granada Hills Charter proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

Hart has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Granada Hills Charter, their record is now 10-15.

Hart skirted past Granada Hills Charter 6-4 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
